Stapled Booklets Without Covers

We refer to all printed products made with staples as booklets – consisting of a cover and inner pages, bound with standard or omega staples. It’s one of the simplest yet most reliable binding methods, especially when there aren’t enough pages for a thicker, spine-bound format.

To produce a stitched or glued book-like publication, you typically need at least 60 pages – depending on paper thickness. Since content often falls short of this, we’ve curated creative paper combinations that allow you to choose thicker covers and thinner, harmonizing inner pages. This way, the simplicity of the binding doesn’t mean compromise – thoughtful material choices result in a unique, well-balanced booklet, even with just a few pages.

How should you define the printing method for your booklet? Simple: consider whether the content is black-and-white text only, or if it includes color elements.
If you’ve used spot colors, count how many pages include them.

Editing guide

Design  /  Avoid using fonts smaller than 5 pt or with very thin lines — their printability depends largely on the smoothness of the chosen substrate. Gold and silver elements may not show well on very thin lines or small areas.

Layout  /  The total number of pages — including blank ones — should be divisible by 4. Booklets thicker than approximately 5 mm may not close completely. With many pages, side margins tend to shrink toward the center of the booklet.
Please submit your pages as single pages, not as spreads. We can saddle-stitch up to landscape A3 format.

Durability  /  Lamination provides good durability for the cover — it’s strongly recommended if you want a product that holds up over time.

Saddle Stitching  /  You can choose standard staples or omega staples (for filing). Omega staples are only suitable for booklets up to about 4 mm thick. If you're not using a standard binder (with 8 cm spacing), please specify the custom distance between staples.

General Setup  /  The most reliable file format is PDF/X-4 — it ensures optimal compression and proper embedding of fonts and colors.
All images should be in CMYK color mode and 300 dpi resolution at actual size. If you're using extra (spot) colors, the printable areas must be vector-based.
If your design reaches the edge of the print, include a 3 mm bleed. Crop marks should be 3 mm long and placed 3 mm from the edge.
