Paper Weight vs. Thickness
Paper weight, expressed in grams per square meter (gsm), is the manufacturer’s official measurement. However, thickness is often more critical for production planning, such as calculating the spine width of a publication.
It’s a common misconception that paper weight indicates thickness. This isn’t always true, as manufacturing techniques (e.g., volumization) and raw materials determine how densely a paper is compacted. As a result, some thicker papers may be lighter, while thinner ones can be heavier than average. Our photos showcase these differences by showing papers bent to highlight their thickness.
Printability and Surface Treatment
Each paper yields a slightly different print result, depending on its texture, color, stiffness, transparency, and ink absorption. Size-Based Selection
We offer two main types of substrates based on size:

Sheet-fed substrates, used for sheet-fed printing, ideal for A4-sized prints (e.g., 4-page A4, 6–8-page accordion folds) or A4 variants (A5, A6, LA4), minimizing waste and offcuts.

Roll-fed substrates, used for poster printing, offering greater size flexibility, with prints up to 160 cm wide and 20 meters long.
